The mystery crime series “Emergence” about policewoman Jo and the mysterious Piper flickered across the screen in season 1 with 13 episodes. Will there be season 2 soon?
The story of “Emergence” begins in Southold, Long Islang, with a plane crash and a 10-year-old girl (Alexa Swinton) who has no memory at all. Police officer Jo Evans (Allison Tolman) takes the girl in and gives her the name Piper. Piper and Jo’s daughter Mia (Ashley Aufderheide) become friends. It quickly turns out that Piper is no ordinary girl and has telekinetic powers. The series develops an exciting story around artificial intelligence, androids, cyber crime and the eternal struggle between good and evil. Shady characters are after Piper and journalist Benny Gallagher (Owain Yeoman) helps Jo and Piper with his research. Also in the cast is “Scrubs” star Donald Faison as Jo’s ex-husband. Even though “Emergence” has built up a large fan base, the series lost more and more viewers and is one of the ABC series with the worst ratings. In addition, there were more difficult conditions. Due to the coronavirus, many filming dates had to be paused and releases postponed. As a result, many production companies focused on “safe numbers” – so it’s no wonder that “Emergence” was canceled after only one season.
